Sepia-toned gatefold picture sleeve with no inside/rear text and different, script-style title lettering on front; thus also known as "the script cover". Discs - which were pressed at Columbia's Pitman, New Jersey plant - carry white "Advance Promotional" check labels (some with handwritten song titles, some without).
A fully intact copy included a special outer mailing envelope (with large banner reading "Bruce Springsteen: Born to Run, special pre-release limited edition" printed on the front side), a postcard-sized, laminated tracklist insert (with "Meeting Across The River" still listed under its original working title of "The Heist"), a separate info/credits sheet and a stapled set of xeroxed lyric sheets.
