This first issue was pressed by [l324419] and features a unique deep groove pressing ring (2.75 "diameter). Waddell used the single deep groove until about 1968-69, then switched to the double pressing rings visible in [url=https://www.discogs.com/it/release/10087387-White-LightWhite-Heat/history#latest]this release[/url] [inner 2.875" (about 73mm), outer 3.625" (92mm)].

There is a bootleg of this version with the exact same matrix (https://www.discogs.com/release/6167877-The-Velvet-Underground-White-LightWhite-Heat). It can be identified by the following:
- No visible skull
- Band name missing from spine
- Dead wax width on side 1 is 1" instead of 1/2"
- Pressing ring is a ledge instead of a trench (same diameter)
- Label text is blotchy instead of crisp
