Item Description

Excellent quality 16mm optical sound COLOR print of the rare feature THE KING OF JAZZ 1930 starring Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra Eddie Lang, Frank Trumbauer, Joe Venuti, Mike Pingatore, Jack Fulton, Roy Bargy, Wilbur Hall, et al featuring Bing Crosby and The Rhythm Boys Al Rinker Harry Barris , John Boles, Jeanette Loff, Stanley Smith, Jeanie Lang, The Brox Sisters, The Sisters G, Grace Hayes, Laura LaPlante, Nell O Day and The Tommy Atkins Sextette and many others.
Print runs approximately 100 minutes.
Image quality of this reduction from 35mm nitrate is excellent.
Print is sharp and has a full tonal range from shadows to highlights, quite accurately representing the slightly salmon hued look of the original 35mm nitrate 2-color Technicolor print it was made from.
Good, strong sound quality.
This is one of the old Philip Jenkinson prints - Phil was the ONLY source there ever was for this film on 16mm and I bought this one directly from him in 1987.
Over the years Phil made up only a small handful of these KOJ prints - this is the only one I have seen come to market in many years.
For more information on Philip Jenkinson, his KING OF JAZZ 16mm prints and this one in particular , please refer to James Layton and David Pierce s 2016 book, KING OF JAZZ - Paul Whiteman s Technicolor Revue .
Accompanying scans are made directly from the print on my flatbed scanner and accurately represent the color in this 16mm.
