Item Description

Gioconda De Vito
London Symphony Orchestra Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Rafael Kubelik
Bach/Mozart Violin Concerto

Gioconda de Vito 1907-1994 was one of the few female violinists able to establish themselves as soloists on the concert platform during the first half of the 20th century. Born in the South Italian region of Puglia, the artist studied in Pesaro and Rome, accepting her first professorship at the tender age of seventeen. De Vito built an international career which took her as far afield as Argentina and Australia. In Germany she was especially highly regarded during the 1930s and 40s. Bach, Beethoven and Brahms represented the main pillars of her repertoire which, however, largely eschewed more modern music. De Vito cultivated a sumptuously romantic tone and never sought superficial violinistic brilliance. In 1961, aged only fifty-four, she retired from the concert stage.

This is one of the rarest and most highly sought after classical records
The original pressing of Gioconda de Vito on His Master s Voice ASD 429 with the cream and gold stereo labels. It plays with a few light clicks here and there, mainly on side two, but there is certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music. It still sounds great It is let down by the cover though, which has a fair amount of wear and staining mainly on the back. All in all a very acceptable copy of a very rare record

Condition:
as Record Collector s grading system

Vinyl side 1:
excellent
at first glance the vinyl looks to be in great condition with a few very light superficial marks but it does have a very small dint that causes five light clicks at the end of track two but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, that apart plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle, has a sticker on the label .

Vinyl side 2:
very good
again at first glance the vinyl looks to be in great condition but it does have two very small dints and a small scratch mark which cause 14 light clicks near the start, seven light clicks towards the end of track one and 12 light clicks about three quarters of the way through track two, but certainly nothing that spoils your enjoyment of the music, plays with no jumps or sticks and minimal crackle, has a sticker and some sticker residue on the label .

Cover front laminated, flip-back :
good
corner, edge and spine wear, a few light creases mainly arount the edges, staining/aging/small surface tears/marks on the back, a bit rought looking .

I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy on return of the record.

Any questions, don t hesitate to ask.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:

MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
