Item Description

David Bowie: The Man Who Sold The World 1971, UK/Mercury 6338041. Disc has some superficial marks, it plays M- except for the fade out of Running Gun Blues gt first part of Saviour Machine where some ticks are audible, it gets a VG grade. The labels both show some spindle wear. Cover has very clean front/rear panels with just a hint of ringwear starting at the top of each. The seams are all rubbed but the only split is a tiny 1/4 one at the bottom of the pocket. The spine has wear but the print is still mostly legible. The cover gets a VG grade. This has been the most coveted David Bowie album for as long as I can remember... said to have been withdrawn shortly after release. I still find it hard to believe that the cover image caused some sort of public outcry. Knowing how image conscious Bowie was, I think it s more likely that this cover didn t suit the Ziggy Stardust persona that he adopted shortly after and thus it was quickly replaced with a more glam design. Anyway, this is a genuine first UK pressing, not one of the many counterfeits that are circulating The first fake was an Italian one that appeared in the late 1970s. This had spine print running from bottom-to-top but was otherwise pretty convincing to the untrained eye. Be careful what you re bidding on Killer LP, and his best to my ears as I love early 70s hard rock. Running Gun Blues and She Shook Me Cold are total heavy guitar crushers and don t have much in common with anything else he ever recorded.

Everything I offer is guaranteed. I try to note any flaws with the disc and the cover so that there are no surprises when the box arrives. iamthewitch

I ship all records in strong cardboard mailers with cardboard flats added to increase stability. The discs are always removed from the jackets to prevent seam splits, and all albums are dressed in plastic sleeves for travel. Please be aware that these supplies are expensive to purchase and represent a small portion of my shipping charges. I pack/ship one day per week, usually it is Friday.
