'PLEASE PLEASE ME' – AN ORIGINAL FIRST ISSUE BLACK AND GOLD PARLOPHONE **MONO** VINYL LP - PMC 1202

AMAZING, UNDAMAGED, NEAR MINT LABELS, RADIANT VINYL SURFACES, LOVELY NEAT, FIRM SLEEVE, VERY 1ST PRESSING, WITH DICK JAMES CREDITS.

Summary:

On the MAGNIFICENT Black and Gold Parlophone Label this is the **MONO** version of The Beatles FIRST UK Album, considered the most collectible UK Beatles album of all time.

Please Please Me was the Beatles first UK album. There was obviously much interest from the increasing fan base to listen The Beatles first album. Most were passed around at parties, thoroughly enjoyed, and therefore many became badly damaged – but NOT THIS ONE - and we can honestly say that this is one of the few better examples to have come on the open market in recent years.

Detailed Album Description:

This Rare MONO Vinyl LP is the VERY FIRST PRESSING released in the UK on the 22nd March 1963 on on the Phenomenal BLACK with GOLD Print PARLOPHONE Label, with the DICK JAMES MUSIC Publishing credits for the tracks Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do You Want to Know a Secret and There’s a Place.

Both sides of the SIGNIFICANT Black and Gold Parlophone record labels are in beautiful Excellent Plus condition, the gold text, and the black background of the Parlophone labels are undamaged, as you will see from the scans, all that is visible are just a few signs of play (centre spindle lines) on both labels and unbelievably, there is none of the usual ‘white’ areas of wear around the centre spindle holes.

Matrix and Stamper information:

Side 1 matrix is: XEX 421-1N and Side 2: XEX 422-1N.
Side 1 stampers: 1/P and Side 2: 1/T.
The embossed MT tax code is stamped around the centre of the Side 1 record label

Both sides of the HEAVYWEIGHT Vinyl Disc are in superb undamaged Excellent Plus condition. Rarely seen in this condition, both Vinyl surfaces are RADIANT and GLOSSY, showing no more than a couple of light surface hairlines, none of which affect the play quality in any way, there are NO scuffs or deep scratches to either side of this well cared for vinyl disc.

The album has been carefully played through ALL the tracks, and the Sound Quality is superb, the LP plays without major faults, there are NO skips, clicks,or pops, side one play’s Excellent Plus a great sound quality with minimal background crackle, side two play’s Excellent with a little more background/surface noise than side one, more noticeable on the intro’s to the tracks, the LP sits 100% flat on the turntable.

The vinyl LP comes in its ORIGINAL Polythene lined ‘Use Emitex…; inner bag, the inner bag too is in superb Excellent Plus condition, there are no seam splits or tearing, just the usual light creasing.

….And the album is housed in it’s ORIGINAL Laminated ERNEST J DAY Flip Back Sleeve, printed with a large mono to the top right hand corner of the front of the sleeve, and Angus McBean to the bottom right hand corner, near to the edge of the front of the sleeve.

This Please Please Me sleeve is one of the FINEST Original Ernest J Day Laminated mono sleeves to have come into stock, to be honest most sleeves we see are in poor condition and suffer from a lot of wear and tear, however, this one has survived in superb condition for the past 49 years, and is in superb Excellent to Excellent Plus

condition, (see full description and detailed scans below) The Front panel is very FLAT and FIRM and still retains its DEEP GLOSS and VIVID COLOURS. There is NO visible record indentation. The opening edge has minimal wear and is EXTREMELY FLAT. The top and bottom edges of the sleeve are undamaged and free from any splitting. The Spine Edge too is UNDAMAGED and the printed wording ‘Please Please Me – The Beatles’ is clearly legible. There are small corner bumps to all four corners. The Reverse Panel of the sleeve is REMARKABLY CLEAN, WHITE and FIRM, with aboslutely NO yellowing or age spots, all that is visible is light handling signs to the gate edge. All three flipbacks are undamaged, and all printed text and track listing are unfaded, there is no handwriting or rearing to any part of this sleeve.

This AMAZINGLY PRESERVED example could not disappoint any Serious Collector. RARELY offered in this all round SUPERIOR condition, without doubt, one of the most collectable and SOUGHT AFTER UK Beatles album in existence today, and the finest example that we had the privilege to offer in a long time, this album will soon be 50 years old in March 2013.
