Item Description

Here is a real rare gem for the prog / psych collectors out there.
This is an original 1977 pressing of Sursum Corda by Quill.
They made I believe a small batch of pressings in 1977.
This copy may have been put together by Ken Deloria as a promo pack, as it is Signed on the cover with his phone number and it is stuffed with a 1978 Santa Barbara newspaper clipping announcing a free concert they were giving at the amphitheater in Isla Vista park California .
Also inside is a 8.5X11 liner note sheet for the album and also two-page write-up from alpha 2 management giving general band description and bio s of all three members. Also inside is a 11X17 concert poster featuring Rick Sharp artwork famous for surf and rock music posters .
I managed to get in contact with Rick regarding the poster.
He now lives in Hawaii and still makes poster art.
Rick was very kind and here is response: Thanks for contacting me about the Quill poster.
I had completely forgotten about that until now I did a lot of work like that in those early days and sometimes I get reconnected to art I did but haven t seen since I created it.
If you could take a more straight on picture of it with flat lighting and send it to me I could then include it in my collection of Early Poster Art on my website.
I think it is a good representation of my early art.
I think it is a lithograph on colored paper.
I think Ken Deloria may have played on Earth Song which was an art and music album I did around that time.
I also think I may have done a full color album cover for Quill too? Thanks again for sending me the long-lost poster Rick Sharp The jacket I ll rate at VG due to some foxing and moisture stains, and some corner and seam damage.
There is a crunch on the top seem right above the word Quill .
I put a little acid free archival white glue on the area which stabilizes it and keeps it from worsening.
The bottom seam has some splits just starting to develop.
Jacket and inner papers do have a very light musty smell similar to an old book.
No visual evidence of mildew or mold.
This has been in stored in a large box of records for a very long time and I think the odor will dissipate quickly now that it is in the open air.
I expect the odor to be practically gone by the time the auction ends.
It is not really bad even currently.
Due to an inquiry from an ebay member and the high value of this item, I have gone back and examined this lp under very bright light with closer scrutiny.
Side A ....
NM- to VG Full gloss, perfect labels no spindle marks.
Looks pristine at a casual glance but I did find a couple super-light insignificant hair lines possible from vinyl sliding across inner sleeve.
These are the type that are so light that you can only spot them in very bright light at one very specific angle.
Also one tiny blemish similar in size to a poppy seed in about the middle of the LP.
I spot played through this area a couple times and the mark is completely in-audible on my system Dual 1229 deck Shure cartridge .
I am being super critical here.
If you have this in your hands in normal lighting you would look at it and think NM.Side B ,,,, NM This side is full gloss and about as good as I ve ever seen.
I see one area with a super-faint hair line/sleeve rub again only visible if held at one very specific angle under very bright light.
It looks literally brand new and un-played.
Matrix numbers are LRS-JP I think this is Location Recording Services in Burbank CA.
engineering/mastered by Jeff Peters,....Jeff most notable clients in the 70 s were Brian Wilson and the Beach boys .
Both sides play incredibly well and sound amazing. This is an extremely hard pressing to come across and the added historical memorabilia make this a real Grail for the collector.free insured shipping with tracking in the USInternational shipping will ship through Ebay s global shipping program.
