Brief Info: With quite possibly the longest ever album title, this was Nirvana s second album following the pop-psych classic, and arguably first ever rock concept album The Story of Simon Simopath .
A band highly regarded by critics of the day, but they never sold in any great numbers.
With so many classic bands, established performers and albums around in this golden era of British music, such acts were simply overlooked or disappeared altogether.
All of Us , as it is better known, features their most well-known song, Rainbow Chaser , which opens this splendid set.
More psych-pop from a quality Island band, I actually prefer this to their debut.
A beautiful a first issue in almost amazing condition, the record especially, this is seldom seen or offered like this.
Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT : arguably better.
A single fully laminated format.
Printed and made in England, includes the plain white inner sleeve.
Lamination Front Back: The laminate retains stunning mirror-like shine, freshness and clarity with hardly any creasing or dulling at all, even under light.
The main issue is some spine edge lifting which is seldom avoided on this one.
This is not wear, and sometimes present even from new.
Over time laminate naturally tightens that can result in lifting or often severe bowling of the card which this has avoided.
The front has only a couple of very narrow slivers, the back has two larger lifts, but both are uncracked and still solid.
No fading or ageing, this rare cover will prove incredibly hard to find fresher or better.
Top Edge: Very thin but perfectly straight with no wear or chipping to the super-smooth surface.
Bottom Edge: As above, the lack of bowing is rarely seen on vintage covers this thin.
Right Edge s , and Type: Immaculately clean and very sharp with barely even a hint of wear or thickening, even as seen viewed end-on.
Record enters on this edge that is guaranteed untrimmed or enhanced.
The end of laminate line both sides is wide and important present to emphasise the fact.
Spine and Text: Solid, again thin, but straight with a little compression near the bottom.
All text is perfect and unworn under the solid and uncracked laminate, also nicely centred.
The lack of bowing on all edges will seldom be seen, this lies dead flat.
Corners: All in amazing neat and barely rubbed condition with fantastic near mint shape retained without knocks or creases.
Cover Summary: What a beauty okay, some spine edge lifting on the back but that a natural trait of laminate of a certain age, and as stated, often present from day one.
Some covers were more prone than others, and this clearly one of them.
But for sheer fresh good looks and ultra shiny laminate, this will never be beaten easily.
It should please many, if not most collectors, and could indeed prove a huge upgrade for some.
The Inner Sleeve: NEAR EXCELLENT: a plain white unlined inner with the PATENTS APPLIED FOR text.
This a little aged with some gentle discolouration and two corner folds, these often deliberate by owners to stop the record sliding out.
Other creasing present, but fairly mild, all edges unsplit with no repairs.
Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT : arguably better.
A fantastic visual copy that is very clean with equally fine shine and heavily pressed.
A copy appearing hardly played on all the evidence with any surface traces few, ultra light and faint as seen critically under bright light.
No penetrating stylus scratches, viewed in average room light, barely anything even registers.
Visually a gorgeous vintage Island record that should please most collectors.

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This magnificent pop-psych album plays even above it s high visual grading with barely anything to fault.
Offering strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound.
Any surface sounds are minimal indeed and this is an exceptional clean pressing with no tracking issues.
Few available copies will outperform this UK first pressing significantly I feel sure.
Both channels are clean and sharp, I am certain this record has been played very lightly and has been very well stored and carefully handled, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment.
Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record.
It will prove very difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.

SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE My Use of Terminology: Surface Marks Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound.
Scratch a needle mark that goes below the record s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform.
Original a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record.
First Pressing A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record.
I do not claim to always know for sure, and that s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide.
I prefer to use terms like Early Copy rather than First Pressing if I am not totally sure.
Surface Sound Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar.
Distortion Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so.
The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality.
Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion.
Feathering Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover.
Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive.
Set Off, actually a printer s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon.
e.g.
when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area this is mostly unavoidable or course.
