February 1943 rare German first press set of 4 records released on plum/gold ODEON label with catalognumbers are O-8793, O-8794, O-8796 and O-8796.
All records still in their original ODEON sleeves and all in fantastic EXC/NEARMINT condition - just perfect and a rare find in this beautiful condition with original sleeves Brilliant performance by Gerhard Taschner accompanied by Cor de Groot on Steinway piano recorded with superb soundquality.
See photos ...Gerhard Taschner 1922 - 1976 was born in Krnov, Czechoslavakia.
He studied with Jen Hubay in Budapest, with Bronislaw Huberman and Adolf Back in Vienna.
In 1930 first tours in the United States and Germany, 1941 he was chosen by Wilhelm Furtw gnler as Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic.
In 1943, aged 21, he married the pianist Gerda Nette-Rothe.
After the War he joined the pianist Walter Gieseking and the cellist Ludwig Hoelscher in a celebrated piano trio.
He also played many concertos under Karl B hm, Georg Solti, Joseph Keilbert, Carl Schuricht, Leonard Bernstein.
In 1950 Taschner was appointed as professor at the Musikhochschule in Berlin.
Gerhard Taschner died in Berlin in 1976.
