DICK JAMES ACETATE
Dick James Music was the publishing company for many of the Beatles Songs, this was, most likely an acetate made by them for their own use.
It certainly would have been made before any official release even a promotional copy would not have been pressed: if there were any official issues there would have been no reason to make an acetate!
The single was released with the two sides we have here in 1963 so this is perhaps, a trial copy prior to that.
You can see it is an acetate by the aluminium showing at the spindle hole, This would have been made by the laborious process involved where each record was cut in 'real time' on a blank wax covered disc. Very few would have been made.
The condition of both playing surfaces are very good although there are the usual crackles before the track gets going. The A-side label is in great shape but, unfortunately, Arthur and Justine (whoever they are) felt it necessary to write their names on the B-side label. It would, though, look fine in a frame with the A-side showing.
This is a very scarce piece of BEATLES history and will be appreciated by the dedicated collector.
