Item Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING:
Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.
OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.
Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries Italy, Russia, France, in particular has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.
We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.
We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.
Thank you for your interest and support.

The MONKEES

USA - COLGEMS - STEREO - COM 103

Housed in a beautiful MINT mono 67 original cover

IN 1967 The Monkees won the battle with their record label executives and performed Headquarters with their own instruments, and for that reason, The Lp is probably the most important release of all the bands albums. The potential for failure was immense. The band could loosely be termed musicians, but could hardly be termed a proper band. For instance, the only person with any previous experience behind a drum-kit was Davy Jones and he was so small he couldn t be seen from behind the equipment so the job was handed over to Mickey Dolenz. Given all the possible hazards Headquarters is an absolute triumph
50 years ago this month, Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork found themselves at 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart for the third time in less than a year, but this time it mattered more to the Monkees crew than the other two occasions combined. Why? Because this time The Monkees played their own instruments. The album is a brilliant conglomeration of everything that made the Monkees great - the rural/rock/psychedelic/pop influences of each of the band members different muses blend in a unique, and flabbergastingly successful way that defies all logic about how rock bands are supposed to work.
When a band comes into existence with the aid of a television studio, it should come as no real surprise when said band tends to be at the mercy of that studio, but you can imagine the frustration such a situation would cause with the band members, particularly when those members have proven ability as musicians. It wasn t an easy battle for The Monkees to win, but in early 1967, the guys made their way into the RCA Music Center of the World Studios on Sunset Boulevard and, in no time at all, they had come up with an album which they viewed as a real game-changer.
Headquarters was definitely a great album, but a game-changer? Well, maybe, but certainly not from a commercial standpoint. Yes, it turned a number of heads and made more than a few non-believers realize that there was more to The Monkees than just the prefabricated poprock group they d heretofore perceived them to be. Yes, it also set a precedent which led them into Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn Jones Ltd., which many have argued is the best album in the entire Monkees catalog. Creatively speaking, though, the opportunity to play their own instruments and contribute creatively to their albums in a more substantial way truly brought out the best in The Monkees. Don t believe us? Just listen.
