Hannibal are squarely in that unique early 70s UK blues rock school of saxophone/flute lead proto prog, similar in scope to other same-era English acts like Diabolus, Aquila, Jethro Tull and Raw Material circa their first album . Some really nice jazz-tone guitar work too. Despite the lengthy tracks, there isn t much in the way of inter-song development. Highlights are certainly the last two tracks: Wet Legs and Winter . A good example of the style and clearly topnotch prog, very overlooked at the time and as a result mega rare and impossible to find with just a couple of thousand ever pressed ...
Vinyl: EX to NM. I m very happy to be able to present this HANNIBAL gem in this wonderful condition. The audio is simply sublime played on my Technics deck with Linn Sondek cartridge and through my Rotel amp and BW speakers. This vinyl sounds out of this world, a majestic album that showed that really went largely under the radar. Why ...?
Unbelievably it has no hairlines or marks and the audio is simply stunning. Judging by the absence of any spindle traces or hairlines this ha probably not evr been played at all Just a few paper retraction traces only visible under a very strong light Even a new vinyl would have these. The audio has beautiful separation and there is hardly ever any background noise. A beautiful silent full stereo joyful experience. I played this through in full and thoroughly enjoyed it, indeed my most intensive listen for this week.. I was even tempted to keep this as it will be very hard to find this again, it is indeed mega rare now in this kind of condition. Needless to say NO jumps, clicks or ticks.
Gatefold Sleeve: VG to EX. Fantastic looked after matt gatefold sleeve with beautiful rich colours and without any creasing. It sits superbly flat and has a sharp crisp opening. Light storage wear on the edges, the spine is fully legible. A beautiful original sleeve and a fantastic upgrade condition. One sticker with a number to the right top corner. The winner will be very pleased indeed No marks, no seam splits or tears. The inside gatefold is totally unmarked without any writing. This is an upgrade for most psych and prog collectors.
