PARLOGRAM AUCTIONS presents...
THE BEATLES - PLEASE, PLEASE ME Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a 1st-class UK 1st mono pressing of their debut album on the black gold Parlophone label: PMC 1202 This disc has 1st variation labels with the Dick James..
publishing credits for tracks 1, 2, 6 7 on side 1 and 4 6 on side 2.
An MT purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 1 label.
This particular copy was pressed on EMI s old-style presses which were in the process of being phased out just as this album was entering into production.
This is evidenced by a double-edged ring in the centre of the side 1 label and a more distinctive deep-groove towards the outer edge of the side 2 label.
Matrices: XEX 421-1N XEX 422-1N Stamper codes: 2/GO 1/H Vinyl weight: 168g Housed within a correct/early Ernest J.
Day printed front laminated, tri-flipback mono cover, with the Angus McBean photo credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with its original poly-lined Use Emitex...
inner-sleeve.
CONDITION Labels: NEAR MINT A beautiful set showing no blemishes or wear to any of the delicate gold print.
Both centre holes are totally unworn with no spindle marks present and the central horizontal gold lines both going right to the edges of the hole edges.
Aside from a small scratch in the 3 o clock position on the side 1 label, there is nothing more to to fault on this fine set.
Visual: EXCELLENT Both playing surfaces retain their as new deep-gloss factory shine with no clouding or groove-whitening from over-play on a poor system.
Strong daylight shows up just one noticeable surface mark over track 1 on side 1 which is neither feelable or audible.
Side 2 bears a couple of very light turntable scuff marks but there is nothing we would term a scratch anywhere on this well looked-after disc.
Closer examination beneath halogen light reveals little more than a few harmless wispy hairlines and a sparkling rainbow shine.
Both sides lie 100 flat on the turntable when playing.
Audio: NEAR MINT Played just a handful of times on good equipment, all tracks play cleanly and clearly with all of the power and presence expected of such an early pressing.
Our single careful play-check at volume found no evidence of any groove/playwear distortion or crackle or background interference.
Nor are there any clicks pops or other audible issues.
We guarantee that this great sounding disc will not disappoint.
Cover: EXCELLENT A very fine example with an exceptionally clean, unworn unscratched high-gloss front panel laminate which is free from any thumbnail creases.
There are two small wrinkles on the word Please..
in the upper white border but no bends to any part of the spine.
The corners are in nice shape with just some of the usual shelfwear to the lower right tip.
Both front and rear opening edges are clean undamaged.
The rear panel is perfectly clean white with no age-related wear, writing or missing paper.
All of the delicate flipbacks are present and both seams are smooth unstressed.
Both seams fully intact and are smooth with no flaking or missing laminate and the spine is fully worded and similarly unworn.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT Clean white with an unavoidable light disc impression but no writing, tears or seam splits.
Very few examples of this album in this condition rarely come up for sale and represent an excellent investment opportunity for the future.
