Original 1960 RCA VICTOR 1st pressing, serie EUROPA, cat#. PML 10300, Italy.
Genuine original 1st press of this European Jazz milestone and Italian Jazz rarity composed and arranged by the great maestro Armando Trovajoli. Finished to be recorded in 1960 and released on the famed RCA 'Europa' series - an Italian Jazz landmark and concept album, designed to represent the 'Beat Generation' spirit. This legendary session features a very large and quality orchestra with best Italian Jazz players of the time, from the Gianni Basso and Oscar Valdambrini horns section to the Gino Marinacci's flute and Berto Pisano's contrabass. Composed for the making of radio programs series, maestro Trovajoli here re-arranged some classic hits in a 'Modern' way and crated new music themes following the 'beat' mark. The brilliant result is an outstanding dynamic and colorfoul Jazz album with frantic beat rhythms all over: sharp music with rhythmic soulful focus. Big Band and hard swinging moods in the vein of Clarke Boland Big Band group / Modal & Modern Jazz arrangements / huge horns orchestra with full saxes, trumpets and trombones section / Cool Jazz themes with solid beats and boppish drums / smoothy and full-bodied passages.

Our clip starts with the solid Jazz beats of "THE BEAT GENERATION", Modern Jazz riffs and hard-swinging drums tempo by drummer Jimmy Pratt with arrangement by Bill Holman. Lively beats on "HTE STRETCH" with lovely horns jam, Smooth Jazz arrangements by stunning solos by Dino Piana and Livio Cerveglieri. "BLUES" give fast Big Band/Swing tunes arranged by Bill Smith. "LOVE 15" is a sort of introduction of the complete ensemble, with Gino Marinacci's flute solo. "BONJOUR TRISTANO" is a homage to pianist Lennie Tristano composed by O.Valdambrini and Niccoli. "O.B. STREET BLUES" gives Blues shades along with the Berto Pisano's bassline intro of "BLUES". Italian Jazz essential!
