Disc: VERY GOOD
This cherished disc has been played many times but on good equipment only - something rare for this album. Both playing surfaces are clean & glossy with a couple of aged fingermarks being the primary sign of its 59 years. The sound quality overall is clean & clear with none of the groovewear or crackle which spoils so many copies of this masterpiece. The disc's only significant faults are: a feelable 3cm scratch on track 1 of side 1 which causes some intermittent clicks on that track, and a single damaged groove at the end of track 1 on side 2 which caused our stylus to repeat that groove. However without these two blemishes it would be visually & audibly a strong 'EXCELLENT'.
Cover: VERY GOOD
As with the disc, this is a respectable example of this striking but extremely fragile cover. The front panel retains a vibrant high-gloss laminate bearing just a hint of storagewear rubbing and a few small edge wrinkles. There is a 3cm repaired tear to the front opening edge but nothing further to fault. The rear panel is clean & unblemished with slight wear to the upper flipover and two further repaired tears to the rear opening edge. Both upper and lower seams are smooth, unstressed & unsplit. The spine has some minor wear but the all-important wording is complete and undamaged.
