Copies signed by Warhol do occasionally appear but the use of the factory stamps which Warhol used to sign much of his original artwork as well, is very unusual. Warhol had never intended to sign his art and so as a compromise with his dealer at the time he agreed to use a signature stamp on a great many of his paintings and multiples. This is accepted as a signature if it is present on a painting or screen print. This copy of the album has no less than four imprints of the Warhol stamp on the left edge of the front cover and a signature in ink next to the banana.
This copy was most likely signed and stamped for a fan at the factory where the paintings and multiples were produced. The vinyl itself is in very average condition but the cover is very good with no major issues.
For a collector of Velvet Underground this is a unique opportunity. The cover is one of Warhol's most famous designs and this copy is, as mentioned, both signed and stamped by the artist.
