BEWARE MY LOVE Paul McCartney, 1976 Can t say I ve found out, I can t tell you, What s all about.
Don t know who does, I tell you to....
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
Oh, oh, oh, No, no, no.
I must be wrong, baby, yeah.
But I don t believe that he s the one, But if you insist, I must be wrong, I must be wrong, I have to leave, And when I m gone, I ll leave my message in my song, That s right.
Beware, my love, He ll bowl you over.
Beware, my love, Before you re much older, He ll sweep you up under his carpet.
You d be in luck if you could stop it.
Come on, now.
Beware, my love.
Let me tell you...
Well, he ll wear you out, And in a minute, You ll hear a shout, And then you ll be in it.
So, so now beware my love, Cause he ll take you under.
Beware, my love, The sound of his thunder.
I don t believe that he s the one, But if you insist, I must be wrong, I must be wrong But I have to leave, And when I m gone, I ll leave my message in my song, That s why I would have leave it.
Beware, my love, He ll bowl you over.
Beware, my love, Before you re much older, He s gone....yes, he s gone to wear you out, Well....in a minute, You ll hear a shout, And then you ll be in it.
Baby, beware...
I don t know if I can stand it anymore.
Can t say....
I ve found out.
I tell you to....
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
Beware, my love.
PAUL McCARTNEY / WINGS: Wings At The Speed Of Sound LP.
FIRST UK PRESSING, 26th MARCH, 1976.
PARLOPHONE LABEL: PAS 10010.
MAITRIX: YEX 593 - 5U / YEX 594 - 5U Positively a first pressing, EMI sequenced the indexing of small batches, creating high starts to ending digits on both sides.
EMI STAMPING CODES: GOT ? / TL 2 A positively circular shape, I am certain this is the letter G , which represents 1 and was used at both 3 9 o clock during the 60 s and 70 s.
When there is an element of difficulty to read I indicate t with a question mark, but also give my opinion, an opinion based on vast experience of deciphering the tiny figures decades before the internet existed.
With a very clear 2 on the other side, I have every reason to say it does look more like G than any other digit or letter, zero or the letter O was never stamped at 9 o clock on any record.
So the mothers per side, more than confirm how many records were made via increasing the maitrix digits before the letter U , which also accounts for such stunning sound quality on UK first pressings of Wings At The Speed Of Sound.
Quality control was as rigidly applied in the 1970 s by EMI, as in the 1960 s, especially where a new Paul McCartney album was involved Record companies that failed to correctly index every single record individually, were more likely to over press from the soft metal mother pressing plates, a rarity in the UK and why British pressings are so sought after in top condition today.
FIRST ISSUE THICK CARD PICTURE INNER SLEEVE, UNUSED, UNAGED,UNWORN AND UNSPLIT, IN MINT- CONDITION.
Unused says it all really but heavyweight records can split the bottom centre or the side centres, not here, there is not even the slightest sign of any wear or rubbing in any of the three positions.
Even any faint ageing is too minor to take seriously after nearly 40 years, a minus is ample to allow for that and a light record impression and few tiny related edge lines.
Two shapes exist, either mitered corners or round corners, they were both issued with first pressed records and uniquely shaped, so which came first? It had to be the mitered corner sleeves because they were related to the 1975 design with one corner left at 90 degrees or square.
I currently have the ideal example available to see for a listed 1975 first pressing of John Lennon s Shaved Fish album, very briefly in 1976 all four corners were mitered or finished at 45 degrees.
For Paul s own 1975 UK album, the Venus And Mars inner sleeve also the same thick cardboard with corners identical to Shaved Fish.
The round corners design was introduced around the time Wings At The Speed Of Sound was being prepared for release, and both designs were used at random.
UNIQUELY SHAPED FIRST ISSUE ONLY COVER, THE PRINTER WAS UNCREDITED, BUT Garrod Lofthouse MADE THIS DESIGN FOR EMI IN THE MID-1970 s.
A SLOPING SHAPE CREATED BY THE SPINE HAVING THE ENDS TAPERED INTO POINTS, ALSO THE INSIDE OR RECORD STORAGE, IS WHITE, NOT NATURAL CARDBOARD COLOUR.
THERE IS NO WEAR OR AGEING ON THE ENTIRE COVER, EVEN A FEW LIGHT CARDBOARD RIPPLES ARE NATURAL TO THE FINISHED MATERIAL.
ONLY A GENTLE RECORD IMPRESSION AND A COUPLE OF TINY RELATED EDGE PAPER POINTS, LINES THAT SETTLED IN BACK IN 1976.
THE COVER IS IN COMPLETELY UNAGED, BEAUTIFUL MINT- CONDITION.
THE IMMACULATE LABELS DO HAVE ANY SPINDLE ALIGNMENT TRACES, THE RECORD HAS THE DEEPLY GLOSSY SHEEN OF JUST PRESSED VINYL.
I ALWAYS INCLUDE HOW RECORDS WERE HANDLED IN PRESSING PLANTS AND RECORD SHOPS BEFORE BEING BOUGHT, ANY SIGN OF THAT IS NEAR INVISIBLE.
A DISCLAIMER I FEEL OBLIGED TO WRITE, BECAUSE EVEN SEALED RECORDS REGULARLY HAVE THAT FACTORY HANDLING, NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THE ERA, THE SAME IS TRUE FOR RECORDS PRESSED THIS WEEK I CONSISTENTLY ADD REMINDER S HOW RECORDS WERE HANDLED BEFORE BEING BOUGHT IN RECORD SHOPS.
THE RECORD IS IN UNPLAYED / MINT CONDITION.
SIDE 1 Let Em In The Note You Never Wrote She s My Baby Beware My Love Wino Junko Jimmy McCulloch/Colin Allen SIDE 2 Silly Love Songs Cook Of The House Time To Hide Denny Laine Must Do Something About It San Ferry Anne Warm And Beautiful WINGS 1976 Paul McCartney - vocals, bass guitar, guitars, keyboards piano Linda McCartney - keyboards, percussion vocals Denny Laine - guitars, keyboards vocals Jimmy McCulloch - guitars vocals Joe English - drums percussion All Songs Written by Paul McCartney Except Where Credited.
Recorded January February, 1976 Produced By Paul McCartney In early 1976, Wings were still basking in the critical acclaim for their previous album s glorious songs and performances on the superb Venus And Mars, they had spent late 1975 touring Australia.
Returning to England for the Christmas period, they had not recorded an album here since Red Rose Speedway and with the rest of the world tour waiting, in January,1976, they moved into Abbey Road Studios and began recording this Wings At The Speed Of Sound LP.
For the next two months touring was put aside to concentrate on making a new album, it seemed however successful Paul McCartney and Wings were, the music press and media made it as difficult as possible for them.
In spite of the above two titles being warmly received, Paul was constantly facing the same old accusation, he was using Wings to promote his songs and to elevate his own profile.
Considering his previous band, that was a strange criticism, but it stung Paul into deliberately encouraging Jimmy McCulloch and Denny Laine to contribute songs for the Wings At The Speed Of Sound recording sessions.
Not only that, he made sure the cover credits detailed which song every one in the band who sang lead vocals, Denny on Time To Hide and The Note You Never Wrote , Linda on Cook Of The House , Joe on Must Do Something About It and Jimmy on Wino Junko.
It worked superbly to have such variety to the material and it made Paul s lead vocals more economically employed, but the critics who had instigated the most complete Wings album of them all, now said Paul was not heard enough We had become accustomed to the Beatles having four vocalist on albums and Paul had responded to valid criticism before on Red Rose Speedway, but that met disapproval, not from fans though The critics moaned but it was the fans who voted with their feet , a great album to keep the succession of magnificent Wings LP s consistent since Wildlife.
An album really tough in Mint lately, the only condition I aim for all Paul s LP s, few were left unplayed like this fantastic condition first pressing record, plus the cover was perfectly stored in a plastic outer sleeves for the last 39 years, to think next year Wings At The Speed Of Sound will be 40 years old, is unbelievable Music has a way of overcoming those writing scathing reviews, Wings At The Speed Of Sound made No.2 in the UK and became not only Wings best selling album, but also Paul McCartney s biggest success in the American charts, hitting No.1 and remaining there for seven unbroken weeks.
Ironically the song Paul wrote to answer the critics was Silly Love Songs, when released as a single a month after the album in April, it went on to figure among the best selling singles of 1976, that must have given a great deal of pleasure to Paul, because even the song title answered those mocking him.
His songwriting was always sheer genius and yet another song on the album was extracted to release as a single, four months after the album was released, Let Em In was a a huge simmer hit in July.
Success built on success in this year of heavy touring, the Beatles retired from concerts in 1966 and it all ended at Candlestick Park, San Francisco on the 28th August, believe it or not that was the last time Paul had toured in America.
With all the record sales for the album and singles, Paul returned to America for an extensive tour and this was of course the now legendary, Wings Over America Tour which saw him performing Beatles songs plus live versions The Speed Of Sound tracks.
It was quite a year with the triple live album and this earlier studio album representing a peak for this Wings line-up, I almost forget to say Beware My Love ranks with Paul s finest ever songs and studio performances, fittingly recorded in Abbey Road.
Once again I am restricted to just supplying background info because I will respect the unplayed status of this all round stunning Wings At The Speed Of Sound, for all the huge sales, this is only the second time I have offered this on ebay.
Not that the first pressings are rare, all great albums were heavily played and 1976 was rather a long time ago now, most records are unlistenable and their covers battered and worn.
Not how I present any of the Beatles solo albums, unplayed is very special and with all the pressing details in my headings and all the items on view in my pictures.
Roy R M RECORDS.
My lifetime s love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960 s decade in general had a very profound effect.
It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl into becoming a professional record seller.
Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere of record fairs with the highest possible standards set.
When the Internet became the world s new market place for vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay.
Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be, the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly and very efficient service we are proud to provide EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A NO ARGUMENT MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY FROM THE U.K.

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office s new price increases, regretfully we will have to increase the cost of LP s, however, singles will remain unchanged.
Ebay were aware of that happening and have increased their minimum postal cost for LP s to 7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of 46.
A temporary reduction this week means we can now post LP s for 5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to 7? For LP s valued above 46, the cost will be 9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.
IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF 46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER 46 WILL BE SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
