The Beatles "The Beatles Original Mono-Record Box"  (1986)  Japanese red vinyl release Considered to be one of the "holy grails" of Beatles record collecting, the Japanese releases from the 1980's on audiophile quality red vinyl are what most people agree to be the most accurate versions of the Beatles' original mono mixes.  This box set collects all 10 of the Beatles LPs which were original released in England in the mono format and was released in very limited quantities (some sources report only 1000 were made).  It includes ALL the inserts and OBI strips that originally came with the set.  I bought this from it's original owner many years ago and played each LP once to record to CD (except for the Yellow Submarine LP).  (I used an Audio Technica AT-440mla with a tracking force of 1.4 grams).  The sound quality on these records is stunning with virtually no surface noise (even with a sensitive cartridge like the AT-440!) and very dynamic and clean mono sound.  In my opinion, the low-end on these sounds much more full and rich than the 2009 mono remasters.  Many of the LPs in this set sell for over $100 individually (the White Album regularly sells for over $300!). Covers / Vinyl I will grade each LP individuallly.  The first grade is for the cover, the second for the vinyl.  Each sleeve is protected by it's original plastic bag and each record has a clear plastic inner sleeve.  All titles have a lyric insert inside the sleeve.  Please note, there is small postcard-sized piece of paper that came with the set.  It looks like it may be a registration card, but it's in Japanese so I can't be certain.  It has the number 107 at the top. Please Please Me  EX+ / NM  (The cover has a few light creases along the top, mostly noticeable on the back cover.  Vinyl looks flawless.) With the Beatles  NM / NM  (I don't see any flaws.) A Hard Day's Night  NM / NM  (I don't see any flaws.) Beatles For Sale  NM / NM-  (Cover looks flawless.  There is one VERY light surface mark on Side 1.  Side 2 looks flawless.) Help!  NM / NM  (I don't see any flaws, but there is a small 1/4 inch tear on the front of the OBI strip, about an inch and a half from the bottom.) Rubber Soul  NM / NM  (I don't see any flaws.) Revolver  NM / NM  (I don't see any flaws, but the back of the OBI has a small piece of tape at the bottom.) Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band  NM / NM  (I don't see any flaws.) The Beatles (white album)  NM- / NM  (The cover is nearly perfect, but there are two small, light-brownish smudges near the opening on the front cover.  Both records have no marks.  Record 1 has two small black dots visible in the red vinyl.  This appears to just be a little bit of black vinyl mixed in with the red.  It does not cause any problems with playback.  This album comes with the 4 photos, the fold-out poster and the japanese lyric insert.) Yellow Submarine  NM / NM  (I don't see any flaws, sorry I couldn't upload a picture of this one, eBay cuts you off at 12 photos.) The Box All of the corners of the box are fully intact.  None of them have ripped or torn.  There is general wear and some areas of paper loss, mostly along the edges.  From what I understand, this was a common problem with these boxes.  I find it to be presentable, but not perfect.  Please see the pictures I've included so you can judge for yourself. Grading All grading is done visually.  If you need me to play-test a specific track, please email me.  I try to grade conservatively in the hopes that what you receive will meet (or hopefully exceed) your expectations.  I use the following grades: NM, EX, VG, G.  A + (plus) after the grade signifies slightly better condition than the grade and a - (minus) signifies slightly worse condition than the grade.  I try to include a more detailed description after the grades, so please be sure to read that section carefully to get a better idea of the condition of the item. Returns I try to be very thorough in my descriptions, but if you find a record to not be as described, I will accept returns up to 7 days after delivery.  Please contact me first and let me know the reason for the return.  Refunds given only on the cost of the item, not on shipping charges.
