Hello and welcome to this auction for a 'Beatles - Yellow Submarine' 1969 FIRST PRESS mono vinyl LP!!
This particular pressing is considered to be VERY RARE! Around 1969, most people had moved onto listening to stereo records and investing in stereo equipment - including bands. Mono was quickly becoming obsolete. So much so, that the mono Yellow Submarine pressings were pressed in much smaller numbers than the stereo version. It also features a FIRST PRESS flipback sleeve with the Red Lines on the back and NO PRINTERS CREDIT on the bottom flipback! Incredibly rare - DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
Catalogue Number: PMC 7070
Number of Tracks: 13
Matrix Numbers: -1 -1
Mother Stampers: 2GH 1L
VERY EARLY MATRIX NUMBER!
Vinyl (visual):Side 1 -quite a lot of dusty light makrs and light scratches. None of which i can feel however!! Currently rated as VERY GOOD-. Looks like it's been well-played but looked after and these vintage LPs hold up superbly well. Label is EXCELLENT-.
Side 2 -same as Side 1 with one very small, lightly feelable mark to the start of track 3. Doesn't cause any issues whatsoever on my system!
I recommend a deep clean!
Audio:I have play-tested this record from start to finish. I can confirm that there are NO SKIPS, NO JUMPS and NO STICKS on my system! It currently rates as VERY GOOD.There is some crackle on the run-in. It continues throughout the rest of the album with some pops but it is not overbearing and it is never intrusive. All the instruments and vocals and sound effects can be heard clearly. A deep clean is highly recommended but I do not have the facilities to do so. The audio itself is very punchy and has a rich bass tone! The bass on Hey Bulldog is phenomenal, never heard the bass so rich on Yellow Submarine before! Amazing 60s mono punch and warmth that plays really well!
Inner Sleeve: The original 1969 black die-cut inner sleeve is currently in VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+ condition. NO SPLITS, NO RIPS and NO TEARS! It has a sticker in the top right and also some dark black writing to the left - it says '40' so nothing too obvious. A few small creases but it's looking great!
Sleeve:The original 'Red Lines' 1969 mono flipback sleeve is in VERY GOOD+ condition, if not better! The front of the sleeve is intact and clean with a nice gloss and shine! It does have some very light ringwear, light discolouration, some scratches and some marks towards the edges. It also has some small light laminate creasing in places but I've counted no more than 3. ALL EDGES ARE INTACT! Lovely edges with minimal wear, if any! The rear of the sleeve is clean but does have some writing in the top left - No 40. The flipbacks are intact and held down tightly with minimal creasing and light discolouration. There is also a few spots where there is some light creasing and rubbing towards the opening edge. Looks great though! The spine is EXCELLENT and 100% readable with minimal creasing and some light discolouration. Overall, a great original mono first press sleeve that is difficult to find intact!!
PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES!!!
As with all the vintage records I sell, I advise a deep clean to enhance the sound quality of the record. Overall, a RARE Beatles mono record that everyone wished they owned!
