zipedit Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here 1st UK Pressing 1975 cat No SHVL 814 Harvest Labels Near Mint Vinyl Near Mint Audio Only Two Plays Ever Early 1st issue Matrix A-1 B-5 With Original Post Card Near Mint An Archive Copy Never Need To Upgrade Another from my personal collection.
1st UK pressing Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here This is one of the most difficult albums to find with near perfect audio.
There are many quiet sections during the play of this album and are notorious for problems.
This vinyl and audio is graded Near Mint throughout Extremely rare and sought after by avid Pink Floyd Audiophiles out there I have not heard a better sounding vinyl, absolutely top stunning separation and a real deep bassey feel that can not be found like this on any other format in my opinion.
An archive copy never need to upgrade Wish You Were Here is the ninth studio album by the English progressive rock group Pink Floyd, released in September 1975.
It explores themes of absence, the music business and former band member Syd Barrett s mental decline.
Inspired by material the band composed while performing across Europe, Wish You Were Here was recorded in numerous sessions at London s Abbey Road Studios.
The premise of the album was based on a song written by the band called Shine On You Crazy Diamond .
Shine On was a tribute to Barrett, who, coincidentally, made an impromptu visit to the studio while it was being recorded.
It was lead writer Roger Waters s idea to split the Shine On in two parts and use it to bookend the album around three new compositions, forming a new concept similar to their previous album, The Dark Side of the Moon .
As with that record, the band made use of studio effects and synthesizers for Wish You Were Here.
Additionally, the band brought in guest singers to supply their vocals to some tracks, another feature from their previous album.
These singers included Roy Harper, who provided the lead vocals on Have a Cigar , and The Blackberries, who made guest background vocals on Shine On .
Wish You Were Here was released in the early autumn of 1975.
The album became an instant commercial success and record company EMI was unable to print enough copies to satisfy demand.
Although it initially received mixed reviews, the album has since been acclaimed by critics and appears on Rolling Stone s list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time .
Band members Richard Wright and David Gilmour have each declared Wish You Were Here their favourite Pink Floyd album During 1974 Pink Floyd sketched out three new compositions, Raving and Drooling , You Gotta Be Crazy and Shine On You Crazy Diamond .
These songs were performed at a series of concerts in France and England, the band s first tour since 1973 s The Dark Side of the Moon.
As Pink Floyd had never employed a publicist and kept themselves distant from the press, their relationship with the media began to sour.
Following the publication by NME of a negative critique of the band s new material, by Nick Kent a devotee of Syd Barrett and Pete Erskine, the band returned to the studio in the first week of 1975 Wish You Were Here is the second Pink Floyd album to use a conceptual theme written entirely by Waters.
It reflects his feeling that the camaraderie that had served the band previously was, by then, largely absent.
The album begins with a long instrumental preamble and segues into the lyrics for Shine On You Crazy Diamond , a tribute to former band member Syd Barrett whose mental breakdown had forced him to leave the band several years before.
Barrett is fondly recalled with lines such as Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun and You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon .
Wish You Were Here is also a critique of the music business.
Shine On crosses seamlessly into Welcome to the Machine , a song that begins with an opening door described by Waters as a symbol of musical discovery and progress betrayed by a music industry more interested in greed and success and ends with a party, the latter epitomising the lack of contact and real feelings between people .
Similarly, Have a Cigar scorns record industry fatcats its lyrics contain well-used clich s such as can hardly count , they call it riding the gravy train and by the way, which one s Pink? a question asked of the band on at least one occasion.
Wish You Were Here contains lyrics which relate not only to Barrett s condition, but also to the dichotomy of Waters character, as an idealist, and a domineering personality.
The album closes with a reprise of Shine On and further instrumental excursions.

The original 1st issue custom Harvest labels are graded almost as new condition Amaizingly I can t see any spider marks or spidering around the spindle hole, Little if No spindle ware the hole is perfectly round.
This has only been played two times by me ever.
very very rare like this The vinyl.
The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection the playing surface looks like new and still retains its sheen from new please note this vinyl has only ever been played two times by me ever There are certainly no signs of grooveware or distortion I can t see any marks or needle scratches on the playing surface, importantly no marks that would cause any clicks ticks or pops that I heard even at ultra mega loud volume.
Any marks that could possibly be seen would be surface sleeve removal only To be honest I find it hard to see any at all The Audio Quality I have played this through track for track at very loud volume four times prior to this listing on a top system.
The audio quality will blow you away this nearly shook the house down very rich vibrant and cristal clear one of the best sounding copies that I have heard of this pressing The audio on this pressing in my opinion is as good as it gets, even in between tracks there is extremely minimal noise.
This plays as new in my opinion I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 1st by this awesome band Pink Floyd Please check my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right Please note That I always make this disclaimer That although I never heard any clicks or pops during the play of this record please allow for the odd isolated static tick only, certainly not consistant throughout the audio,Please remember this is a genuine 30 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 30 year old system A constant clean before each play because this vinyl has been laying dormant in a case for over 30 years,, a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves cause static/ticks.
A constant clean before each play will reduce this and enhance the audio quality.
The cover.
This is the original 1st issue non laminated cover Any storage wear is very minor and barely worth to mention in my opinion.
Minor crease noticed at the rear near opening edge but you have to look to notice in my opinion.
see photos The text at the spine is fully legible.
superb condition of this 1st pressing cover which is nearly 30 years old always stored in a sleeve separated from the vinyl for protection has kept this sleeve looking like this I would grade the cover at excellent plus The record sleeve.
This is the original 1st issue thick card record sleeve with cut off corners.
In nice condition also.
The bottom edge is becoming fragile and very slightly beginning to split and is now always stored separate from the vinyl. The Post CardThis is the original 1st issue post card as new condition no creases.A beautiful archive copy never need to upgrade HOW I SEND MY RECORDS THIS ALBUM WILL BE SENT IN A LARGE BOX WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS THE ALBUM IS ALWAYS PUT IS A POLY SLEEVE AND ENCASED IN THE BOX WITH PLENTY OF BUBBLE WRAP FOR ADDED PROTECTION SEE PHOTOS As always I have tried to give my honest personal opinion when describing items listed Although it is my honest opinion I always urge others to do their own personal research on any items that they are interested in purchasing, before, they commit to bidding I have Highlighted all aspects as clearly as possible I have taken time to play this vinyl track for track to give a clear and accurate description of the audio quality.
