Amazing and massive 5 LP box set highlighting some of the key musical moments of Japanese new wave cinema Finally a copy available of this great Japanese vintage movie soundtrack that saw the light of day in 1977. Searched high and low for this slide for years but finally was able to wheel in a copy. Brings together some great vintage soundtrack bites that have been unavailable for years and do not surface anywhere else. The whole set was compiled and annotated by composer and electronic music critic Akiyama Kuniharu. Tracks include compositions out of the following movies: Seppuku Otoshi Ana Ansatsu Suna No Onna Tanin No Kao Akogare Ki No Gawa Shinjutenkojima Inochiboufurou Chinmoku Gishiki Seigenki Kaseki Takemitsu Toru Hikoujoujou Nippon Konchuuki Tokyo Olympic Toshihiro Mayuzumi Shonen Jacku To Maho Tsukai Uno Seiichiro Nikudan Kihon Matsuri Kubi Kofuku No Kiiro No Hankachi Sato Masaru Chi No Mure Shinobugawa Matsumura Teizo Suna No Utsuwa Akutagawa Yasushi and Inugamike No Ichizoku Ono Yuji. Most of the pieces on display is right-in-your-face heavy avant-garde sonic art and especially Takemitsu s eerie ghostlike contributions are little jewels that again show that Japanese film soundtracks of the sixties were of unrivalled high quality. Mayuzumi inserts some musique concrete in his piece and Sato Masaru delivers his best work ever with a composition that seems to seep out of the pitch-black void of the well or sorrows. Bone-chilling to say the least but the main part of this compilation is filled with otherworldly esoteric and creepy soundscapes into the depths of your unconscious. Avant-garde sonics with a dark itch. Bloodcurdlingly awesome and super rare. First copy I have since ages utterly fantastic .
