Over the next couple of months I will be slowly selling a record collection of about 5000 pieces. I figured it would be smartest to lead with something unique. This auction is for a 1983 test pressing of the minor threat out of step LP. It is housed in the first press sleeve with the blank black back cover. It was given directly from the band to a friend living in Washington DC at the time and then to me. I emailed Jeff Nelson a few years back and this is what he had to say:
"Looks like an “Out of Step” test pressing done by Southern Studios in London (they were pressing records at Mayking in France at that point). The date shows it’s from when Dischord started working with Southern....
The test pressing you have would have been from any of the 3 versions of “Out of Step” we made of with Southern (Blue stripe for U.S. Version, Red stripe for UK version, and Green stripe for German version). There would have been fewer of these test pressings made than of earlier, US versions, because the record had already been released and gone through two pressings, so there wasn’t the need to send out as many test pressings as promos."
I Will be listing hundreds or even thousands of records over the next few months please bookmark my options to see what I will be putting up. Please let me know any questions you may have
