Item Description

BLACK NIGHT Ritchie Blackmore / Ian Gillan / Roger Glover / Jon Lord / Ian Paice Black night is not right, I don t feel so bright, I don t care to sit tight.
Maybe I ll find on the way down the line, That I m free, free to be me.
Black night is a long way from home.
I don t need a dark tree, I don t want a rough sea, I can t feel, I can t see.
Maybe I ll find on the way down the line, That I m free, free to be me.
Black night is a long way from home.
Black night, black night, I don t need black night, I can t see dark night.
Maybe I ll find on the way down the line, That I m free, free to be me.
Black night is a long way from home.
DEEP PURPLE: 24 Carat Purple LP, VERY FIRST UK PRESSING, 27th JUNE, 1975, BUT NOT SOLD IN A RECORD SHOP.
THIS WAS RETAINED BY EMI / PURPLE RECORDS AS A RARE FACTORY SAMPLE.
SIDE 1 s LABEL HAS AN AUTHENTIC EMI RED WHITE STICKER WITH Factory Sample - Not For Sale Please see my close up picture for how an authentic 40 year old, EMI Factory Sample sticker looks, unlike the fake stickers appearing daily on ebay, the paper is thickly textured and no copy ever made looks like the real thing.
What you see on the label cannot be artificially photo copied to con buyers, hopefully that picture will prevent a buyer being conned, ebay will deal with seller with counterfeit items ....
but only if you report it, then they have to implement their most basic rule.
PURPLE RECORDS LABEL: TPSM 2002 MAITRIX: TPSM 2002 A - 1/ TPSM 2002 B - 1 24 Carat Purple reached No.14 in the UK charts and with a 17 week residency, there were many records required and made, as usual, EMI pressed in carefully monitored and indexed batches to ensure perfect sound quality.
The maitrix ending s began with A-1/ B-1 , this is indeed the first of the first , EMI s stamping codes firmly place this as the very first pressing made, not just any old 40 year old first pressing, a stunning unplayed Mint record that also happens to be a rare Factory Sample.
EMI STAMPING CODES: G 1 / M 1 Like everything associated with this first UK pressing, both sides were sourced from the first mothers and G 1/ M 1 is very close to stampings found on EMI Demo s.
Contrary to the incorrect claims of Factory Samples being Demo s or Promo s, there is distinction between them, a Factory Sample is similar to EMI s Manufacturers Property - Not For Sale stickered records, both were held by the record company and were not sold.
THE RUN-OUT GROOVES HAVE THE HAND SCRIBED SOUND ENGINEER LOGO, RJL , WHO CREATED A SUPERB SOUNDING 24 Carat Purple ORIGINAL 1975 EMI POLY-LINED INNER SLEEVE, IT WAS INTENDED TO REPLACE THE HARVEST TYPE PROMOTING LP S IN BLACK WHITE PICTURES, WHICH EXPLAINS THE POLY-LINING.
The late 1969 - early 1970 albums pictured had never been brought up to date and EMI added a die cut centre, but no longer with any pictures of LP covers.
All the Patent Numbers etc.
were in place and they never made many and were often used for labels such as Purple .
THEY WERE INTRODUCED IN 1973, SOME WERE PRINTED WITH AN ENCODED DATE BUT THIS DOES NOT HAVE ONE, JUST A PATENT NUMBER AND MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN.
Unused, unsplit and unworn with a record impression and a few related light creases and a touch of natural ageing after 40 years.
THE INNER SLEEVE IS IN UNUSED, NEAR MINT CONDITION.
VERY FIRST ISSUE, DELUXE LAMINATED GOLD COVER, FULLY LAMINATED ON THE FRONT, SPINE AND BACK.
With an unplayed record inside, all to note is a record impression and a few related tiny laminate edge lines, any standing in storage traits over the last 40 years are nothing at all to do with wear, use or constant handling.
Unplayed record s covers should be considered to be on the same level as shrink wrapped covers, they also develop record impressions and edge lines and nothing can prevent that for covers made recently and certainly not when discussing 40 years of holding a record.
I am constantly facing the same scenario, ultimate condition records in covers showing minimal but unavoidable standing traits and fully laminated covers are very prone to edge lines alongside and across the main stress related area of a cover, the spine.
A few ripples and the bottom right corner was wrapped very tightly with the thick lamination, which completes the negative comments, as all were natural events and not from wear, I should never be forced to downgrade an unused cover, especially when it was owned by either EMI or Purple Records You get the plain truth in my descriptions, but accompanied by common sense and a lifetime of experience with records and covers.
The glossy gold colour looks incredible through the protective laminate Printed by Garrod Lofthouse , next to their credit on the back is the encoded date it was made, 7505 May 1975, a few weeks before the album was released.
A stunning looking cover and I am delighted proud to present a major Deep Purple LP, with the most staggering tracks ever placed onto a single album, in a cover as superb as this.
THE UNUSED COVER HAS TO BE GRADED NEAR MINT CONDITION.
THE IMMACULATE LABELS DO NOT HAVE ANY SPINDLE ALIGNMENT TRACES, THE RECORD DOES NOT HAVE ANY MARKS OR SCRATCHES .
I COULD NOT FIND ANY ANY HANDLING TRACES, SO NEAR INVISIBLE /INVISIBLE.
THE RECORD ALSO LOOKS LIKE NEW AND WILL HAVE STUNNING SOUND QUALITY, I WILL NOT PLAY IT MYSELF.
THE RECORD IS IN UNPLAYED, MINT CONDITION.
SIDE 1 Woman From Tokyo Who Do We Think We Are LP, 1973 Fireball Fireball LP, 1971 Strange Kind Of Woman 9:14 mins.
live version, Made In Japan LP, 1972 Never Before Machine Head LP, 1972 Black Night 4:52 mins, Recorded live in Japan, previously unreleased in the UK, unique to 24 Carat Purple SIDE 2 Speed King Deep Purple In Rock LP, 1970 Smoke On The Water 9:14 mins.
live version, Made In Japan LP, 1972 Child In Time 12:19 mins.
live version, Made In Japan LP, 1972 DEEP PURPLE Ritchie Blackmore - guitar Ian Gillan - vocals Jon Lord - keyboards Roger Glover - bass guitar Ian Paice - drums All Songs Written By Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord Ian Paice.
Recorded Between 1969 1972 Engineered By Martin Birch.
Produced And Compiled By Deep Purple.
Once I have detailed the pressing details, this very first made record being a Factory Sample and once again the never ending need to explain the standing in storage impact on covers, even for unplayed records, I finally get to the fantastic Deep Purple music.
There are compilations...and then there are ultimate compilations, when record companies choose the tracks they usually produce a worthy enough album, but when the artists choose the tracks you get an ultimate compilation Deep Purple took control and they created 53 minutes worth of simply staggering music, if Side 1 wasn t sensational enough, on Side 2, after Speed King impacts with incredible power with that rif of rifs taken to an absolute limit.
No time to get your breath back, straight into the near 10 minute electrifying live performance of Smoke On The Water , leaving you feeling like have just heard an encore finishing an inspired concert, the album could have ended there and than and still had a massive effect.
Then the adrenalin fuelled live Child In Time kicks in mean, hard and heavy, for over 12 minutes, my all time favourite Deep Purple studio recording was played by the ultimate line-up.
No disrespect intended any of the musicians who have graced this great band, the original 1970 studio version in the hands of the musicians who recorded In Rock , the live version will blow the socks of anyone not necessarily a Deep Purple collector.
In fact, I would go even further than that, if you only have the one Deep Purple album in your collection, make it 24 Carat Purple.
I usually get into background histories to albums but the tracks on the the album speak for themselves so I do not feel the need to start digging out facts and figures, the pressing details and credits typed above, are all the facts required.
I m itching to play the record but an unplayed first pressing is very rare, the sound quality will be sheer perfection and I know how loudly mastered this was.
The back cover pictures every Deep Purple album from 1968 to 1975 and sandwiched between the 1974 Stormbringer and the 1975 Come Taste The Band , 24 Carat Purple has exactly what is says on the tin , maybe a goldplated tin because this is no Greatest Hits LP.
A definitive Deep Purple album because it represents the band at their most inspired, this side of another re-build of the musicians.
The band thoughtfully included the first British outing of a live Black Night , it was only previously available as the B-side of a Japanese single.
Endless compilations followed but this was unique for the complete input from the Mark 2 line-up, who were picking their own favourite studio live performances at this mid-position of the 1970 s decade.
Come Taste The Band found Ian Gillan and Roger Glover had left and before too long, Ritchie departed to form Rainbow, so 24 Carat Purple is finest gathering of the music Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord and Paice ever recorded in the studio or performed live on stage.
Even without playing and describing the album in full, I can conclude this is a record listen to and experience, not write about.
I have said more than enough, my descriptions are not formulated or simply filling in pre-prepared templates, I react to the records I am offering for sale, the hardest thing is resisting being the first to hear this after nearly 40 years.
Roy R M RECORDS.
My lifetime s love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960 s decade in general had a very profound effect.
It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl into becoming a professional record seller.
Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere of record fairs with the highest possible standards set.
When the Internet became the world s new market place for vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay.
Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be, the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly and very efficient service we are proud to provide EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A NO ARGUMENT MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY FROM THE U.K.
RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE BOOK.
THERE IT CLEARLY STATES Sound Quality AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS.
i.e.
COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL.
EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.
MY DESCRIPTIONS WILL ALWAYS BE 100 HONEST AND TOTALLY ACCURATE ON ALL GRADINGS FROM V.G.

UNDER PAYPAL EBAY S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE SERVICE.
We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office s new price increases, regretfully we will have to increase the cost of LP s, however, singles will remain unchanged.
Ebay were aware of that happening and have increased their minimum postal cost for LP s to 7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of 46.
A temporary reduction this week means we can now post LP s for 5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to 7? For LP s valued above 46, the cost will be 9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.
IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF 46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER 46 WILL BE SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
