TPS 3508 Purple Labels 1974 Near Mint Archive Copy Only Two Plays By Me Ever Stunning Near Mint Archive Vinyl Stunning Mint Archive Audio Earliest A1U B1U Matrix Endings Thicker Heavy Vinyl KENDUN Etched On Both Sides Earliest -1u -1u Matrix Endings Stunning Near Mint 1st Press Garrod Lofthouse Cover An Audio Archive Almost CD Quality The 1st PRESS Listen Below Another from my personal collection of records of over 50,000 albums that I have accumulated over a period of more than 45 years or more This album is a reasonably early copy featureing EMI Records rim text on the labels and earliest A1U B1U Matrix endings, but the main reason that I have decided to list this album is for any Deep Purple audiophiles out there The audio is absolutely stunning through out and probably one of the best sounding copies that I have heard Audio vinyl are graded near mint as it could be throughout Even the 1st issue unlaminated Garrod lofthouse cover is graded at mint minus showing very minor signs of wear only this is complete with the original EMI white record sleeve with no splits or tares These early copies are becoming impossible to find like this especially copies that are barely played An Archive copy never need to upgrade I dought that you could find a better sounding copy than this one Listen to the complete album in the player above Stunning copy actual recording from the vinyl Stormbringer is the ninth studio album by Deep Purple, released in November 1974.
On this album, the soul and funk elements that were only hinted at on Burn are much more prominent.
When Ritchie Blackmore s admittedly odd request to cover an old Quatermass track Black Sheep of the Family fell on stony ground he ended up taking a relative back seat in the studio.
Stormbringer took shape blending rock, soul and funk in a way that was quite ahead of its time.
It was released in double quick time in December 1974.
Blackmore then followed his own muse by recording the Ritchie Blackmore s Rainbow solo album in early 1975, backed by members of Deep Purple s regular support act Elf.
Ritchie Blackmore would leave after the making of and touring this album, returning later during the recording of the Perfect Strangers album.
The cover image of Stormbringer is based on a photo.
On 8 July 1927 a tornado near the town of Jasper, Minnesota was photographed by Lucille Handberg.
Her photograph has become a classic image, and was used and edited for the album s cover.
The same photograph was used for Siouxsie and the Banshees album Tinderbox in 1986.
Stormbringer is also the name of a magical sword described in several novels by Michael Moorcock.
David Coverdale has denied knowledge of this until shortly after recording the album.
A few years later, Moorcock collaborated with Blue yster Cult to write Black Blade , a song that actually was about the sword Stormbringer.
According to Glenn Hughes, the slurred gibberish that is spoken by David Coverdale at the beginning of the title track just prior to the first verse is the same backwards dialogue that Linda Blair s character utters in the film The Exorcist when she is questioned by the priest Side One 1.

Soldier of Fortune The Matrix Side 1 TPS 3508 A-1U KENDUN Etched on the run off grooves only 1st press Side 2 TPS 3508 B-1U KENDUN Etched on the run off grooves only 1st press The Mother Stampers Side 1 4 GRO Side 2 3 GRM The vinyl On visual inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superbe like new I can t see a blemish at all on the playing surface Any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal only, Importantly there are no marks that caused any clicks or pops throughout the audio.
The Audio Quality I have played this through track for track as usual at very loud volume on a top system prior to this listing.
The audio is rated near as mint throughout in my opinion One of the best sounding copies that I have heard this will blow you away This is cristal clear and vibrant through out.
This plays with no signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all in my opinion almost cd quality on my systems I would class myself as highly critacle Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right Audio is graded at the top You will find the audio quality on this vinyl hard to surpass on all frequencies Please note I always make this disclaimer Please allow for the odd very light static crackle not consistant throughout the audio Although i never heard any problems at all and have given my honest opinion, this is a genuine 40 year old vinyl not a reissue that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system points to note This has been stored in a case laying dormant for the best part of 40 years A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves over the years causes static crackle and ticks From my personal experiance a constant clean before each play reduces this problem and subsequently enhances the audio quality The Labels This features the original 1st press 1st issue purple labels in superbe condition feature EMI rim text.
Looks and sounds only ever played two times only no marks or nasty writing with very Amaizingly I can t see any spider marks on side 1.
and only one feint trace on side two indicates this has hardly ever been played and certainly not been overplayed at all very rare for a 1st pressing made in gt Britain text is featured this is a 1st UK pressing The record sleeve This is plain white original EMI paper sleeve no splits or tares light fading with age only.
The original no splits or tears.
The cover.
This is the original un- laminated flimsy MADE IN GT.
BRITAIN Garrod Lofthouse cover.
No splits or tares .
Lovely and clean and straight in general any storage wear or rubbing is minimal only and you would have to look for the imperfections see photos I would grade at least excellent plus if not better in my opinion The vinyl has alway been stored separately from the cover.
This is how I have always stored my records HOW I SEND MY RECORDS THIS ALBUM WILL BE SENT IN A LARGE BOX WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS THE ALBUM IS ALWAYS PUT IS A POLY SLEEVE AND ENCASED IN THE BOX WITH PLENTY OF BUBBLEWRAP FOR ADDED PROTECTION SEE PHOTOS As always I have tried to give my honest personal opinion when describing items listed Although it is my honest opinion I always urge others to do their own personal research on any items that they are interested in purchasing, before, they commit to bidding I have Highlighted all aspects as clearly as possible I have taken time to play this vinyl track for track to give a clear and accurate description of the audio quality as i hear it.
