Item Description

THIS TIME AROUND Glenn Hughes / Jon Lord The world around us hangs in doubt, You face a crime that we ll hear about, To pay the cost, would never be the same, Eternal lovers, we re not to blame, There s no mistake, there s no refrain, The same surroundings that stood, Are here again, this time......
As I look around you can t be found, To lose you I d rather see, The endless time of space go passing by.
This time around.....
This time around.....
So look around, we all will be found, In love.....

DEEP PURPLE: Come Taste The Band LP, THE VERY FIRST UK PRESSING, 10th OCTOBER, 1975.
PURPLE RECORDS LABEL: TPSA 7515 .
MAITRIX: TPSA 7515 A - 3U / TPSA 7515 B - 1U.
The very first pressing.
EMI do not necessarily begin with the maitrix ending 1U on every album, but they did for Come Taste The Band, the very first pressings had both sides ending with 1U, then the individual sides rose with every successive pressing batch.
Side 1 has risen two digits to A - 3U , Side 2 is still on the starting point, B - 1U.
Not that it was connected but the same mother numbers of 1 3 confirm a very first pressing, I will next tackle the very full up run-out grooves, before giving EMI s stamping codes with the letters at 3 o clock and the mother digits at 9 o clock.
AS A FIRST PRESSING THE RUN-OUT GROOVES HAVE THE HAND SCRIBED LOGO S OF KENT DUNCAN, AMERICAN SOUND ENGINEER.
AS WELL AS THE ABOVE STAMPED EMI MAITRIX, THE FIRST ISSUE RECORDS IHAVE THIS: SIDE 1: a PR -2895 - 41184 - RE -1 KENDUN - B - b The Wasp Martin The Wasp Birch also left his logo on the first pressings SIDE 2: 1 - 2 in mirror image KENDUN 5 - 1 .
B EMI STAMPING CODES: GO 1 / LG 3 I took pictures of all four sets of maitrix details, it was hard enough keeping to the 12 available, so I compiled them into one picture.
Very time consuming and I doubt if I will attempt that again There are actually variations on some records so worry not if your copy does not confirm to the above, this was vinyl mastering and alterations during the initial pressings still goes on today.
Only CD s are cloned but records can be and are amended during the various manufacturing stages, that begins with Test Pressings, which most of all the run-out grooves indexing originated from.
Rest assured this record was made very early, if only by all the work Kent Duncan Martin Birch inadvertently caused me with photography and fiddling around with picture files VERY FIRST ISSUE ONLY, ILLUSTRATED LYRICS INNER SLEEVE, PRINTED ON BOTH SIDES IN PURPLE ON A LIGHT CREAM BACKGROUND.
THE SOFT PAPER WAS EASILY SPLIT BY THE HEAVY RECORD, UNPLAYED OR NOT, PERFECT STORAGE FOR THE LAST 38 YEARS PREVENTED THAT AND THE INNER SLEEVE WAS NEVER USED.
THE ACTUAL SHAPE OF THEINNER SLEEVE WAS UNIQUE TO THE FIRST PRESSINGS ONLY, ONE BOTTOM CORNER CUT AT 45 DEGREES LIKE THE TOP OPENING CORNERS TO PREVENT CREASING WHEN BEING INSERTED INTO THE COVER.
PRECISELY THE SAME DESIGN EMI USED FOR FOR PINK FLOYD S 1975 Wish You Were Here INNER SLEEVE, ANOTHER EXAMPLE FROM 1975, WAS THE FIRST PRESSING OF JOHN LENNON S Shaved Fish LP LYRICS INNER.
So just a gentle record impression and amazingly, none of the assembling glue was absorbed by the nature of the soft paper.
That is no ageing, very common to this sleeve is moisture from the atmosphere causing small or even large yellow spots, but once again this is one exceptional first edition Come Taste The Band lyric inner, there are ageing spots on either side.
Unsplit and untorn on the front recessed shape record access on the corners, is rare enough and so are the perfectly crisp unused, uncreased and undamaged top opening edges.
THE INNER SLEEVE IS IN MINT- CONDITION.
VERY FIRST ISSUE DELUXE LAMINATED GATEFOLD COVER, LAMINATED ON THE OUTSIDE AND THE INSIDE, WITHOUT ANY WEAR OR FADING TO THE COVER, THE LAMINATE IS STILL AS DEEPLY GLOSSY AS IT WAS IN 1975.
THE ONLY PRINTING CREDIT IS ON THE INSIDE AND SIMPLY STATES Made And Printed In England , BUT I RECOGNISE A Garrod Lofthouse COVER WHEN I SEE ONE THEIR FIRST ISSUE SPECIALS WERE UNCHANGED SINCE THE 60 s AND 1975 WAS ONLY EIGHT YEARS AFTER THEY PRINTED the Sgt.
Pepper COVER AND THIS IS TO THE SAME TOP QUALITY.
ANOTHER UNIQUE FEATURE WAS THE RIGHT COMPARTMENT OF THE GATEFOLD WAS GLUED TOGETHER WITH THE FRONT S EDGE CONTINUED OVER AND STUCK UNDER THE INSIDE LEFT PANEL S EDGE.
The cover was unused, there is no wear or ageing to any part of the gatefold cover, it has fantasic ultra glossy lamination, untouched and undulled, just a few tiny laminate edge lines related to the record impression and the merest standing pressure on the bottom edges, so minor I had no real need to include next to nothing.
The cover was assembled and glued at a slight angle, which can be seen in my picture of the front, where the top bottom edge does not 100 line up with the back bottom edge with the gatefold closed.
A common enough event for such a heavy duty cardboard cover and the extra thickness of the laminate on the inside as well, the spine has perfect lettering under the deluxe thick lamination, please my pictures for how stunning the condition actually is.
THE COVER IS IN NEAR MINT CONDITION.
THE IMMACULATE LABELS DO NOT HAVE ANY SPINDLE ALIGNMENT TRACES AND THE BEAUTIFUL VINYL LOOKS HOW IT LEFT EMI S PRESSING PLANT BACK IN OCTOBER 1975.
The CLOSE UP PICTURE OF SIDE1 S CENTRE HOLE WITH THE DELICATE SHAVINGS OF VINYL FROM THE PRESSING PROCESS, WOULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED HAS THIS BEEN ON A SPINDLE/ TURNTABLE.
YOU CAN SEE FROM THAT ALONE THIS IS AN UNPLAYED RECORD, THE PURE WHITE OF THE LABEL CENTRES AFTER 38 YEARS ALSO TELL THEIR OWN STORY.
THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES AND ANY FACTORY HANDLING TRACES ARE FEATHER LIGHT TO NEAR INVISIBLE, I GET FED UP STATING THE OBVIOUS BUT NEVER NEGLECT TO FIRMLY STATE RECORDS WERE HANDLED AT RECORD SHOPS AS WELL BEFORE THEY WERE BOUGHT.
THE RECORD IS IN UNPLAYED/MINT CONDITION.

Produced by Martin The Wasp Birch and Deep Purple I think I said all that was needed about the condition of all four first issue only items, my opinions were formed when LP s like this were first released and unlike later generations, I know exactly how they were first bought, I have literally spent every passing decade ever since, hunting for that day of issue condition.
I get pretty close and that includes records, sleeves and covers from as far back as 1963, 12 years before Come Taste The Band even saw the light of day, so please excuse the frustration of producing an ultimate and rare condition for this album, then having to explain the lyrics inner sleeve is unaged and has a record impression, there was no handling or wear involved.
An unplayed record like this will be left without me playing it, so a short description is all that is required anyway.
Right, some brief album details, after the 1972 Machine Head , the line-up of Deep Purple affectionately known as Mark 2 , recorded what would turn out to be their final LP, allowing for reforming in 1984 of course.
One slip and I get an email or two If you think this is easy for a worldwide internet to read and criticise, try it some time, it really is daunting even attempting the basics but I can only do my best and an rely on memories, very clear ones though.
For anyone new to the band s 1970 s albums, they were following a new trend, recording studio albums in various countries around the world.
In the late summer of 1975, Munich was the location and there had been several personnel changes.
Ian Gillian and Roger Glover were the first to leave, in mid-1973 the remaining trio of Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord and Ian Paice recruited David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.
They recorded and released Burn in 1974, later on in the same year Stormbringer continued the standards set on Burn and when Ritchie Blackmore departed to form Rainbow in June 1974, his replacement was Tommy Bolin, an experienced and very talented lead guitarist who had played in several 60 s and early 70 s bands, there is no point naming them because they never hit the big time, but Bolin was always a respected figure.
I am keeping this very brief anyway and only really wanted to give the line-up who wrote and recorded the next Deep Purple album Come Taste The Band, the fresh blood gave a needed boost to the band and added an extra tightness without losing their original heavy rock.
In fact, their songwriting was given an injection of inspiration by both Tommy Bolin and Glenn Hughes, but the multi talented Tommy Bolin had the biggest impact, the best example on the album is Gettin Tighter, which also sums up how they increased the band s musical chemistry.
That was co-written by Tommy Bolin and Glenn Hughes, the latter sang the lead vocals.
I realise Deep Purple fans know all this inside out and I am not about to get into an depth analysis, if you love the band then every line-up and album represented yet another amazing chapter from one of the UK s greatest ever bands.
I never became a compulsive collector personally, but dipped in several times and was never once disappointed, my aim has always been to locate the ultimate records covers etc.
and never offer average conditions.
With an unplayed first pressing of Come Taste The Band, I feel I have maintained only offering Deep Purple singles and albums in age defying condition.
Right from the debut Hush single and Shades Of album, EMI pressed Deep Purples UK records, then into the Harvest label era and onto their own Purple Records label, that alone guarantees stunning sound quality for the few that survived without heavy plays and damage to the music signals.
Resulting in crackles clicks on top of poor degraded and distorting sound, they were all mastered very powerfully and loudly, to avoid such horrendous sound I wait until I can locate the Deep Purple records in top condition, unplayed is beyond my highest hopes but very welcome I can then be completely confident a record in this ultimate condition will give fantastic sound and the tracks can be heard and enjoyed in all their original glory.
Roy R M RECORDS.
My lifetime s love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960 s decade in general had a very profound effect.
It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl into becoming a professional record seller.
Over twenty years ago now we entered into the wonderful atmosphere of record fairs with the highest possible standards set.
When the Internet became the world s new market place for vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay.
Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be, the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly and very efficient service we are proud to provide EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A NO ARGUMENT MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY FROM THE U.K.
RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE BOOK.
